In ‘fish out of water’ I sought to capture the lively scene of small fish joyously bouncing amidst the ocean waves. The shapes crafted from reed embody the simplicity and charm of these tiny creatures working together in harmony. To complete the sculpture, I carefully mounted it on a piece of driftwood discovered along the coast of Longbeach on Vancouver Island.
When illuminated, the paper surrounding the reed emits a tranquil glow reminiscent of the gentle, moonlit waters. As viewers encounter this artwork, their own unique interpretations and emotions will undoubtedly be stirred. The sculpture invites them to immerse themselves in the whimsical dance of the fish and to embrace the tranquility of the moonlit ocean. It serves as a reminder of the profound connection we share with the natural world and the captivating beauty that can emerge when we surrender to the creative flow.
